2008~present

Expert researcher at National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) Japan

Develop PHY/MAC layer techniques for cognitive radio system.

Develop distributed spectrum sensing system/testbed.

Participate in IEEE standardization in cognitive radio.

Results have been contributed to international scientific journals as well as the IEEE standardizations.

Participate IEEE 802.11af, 802.19.1 and IEEE 1900.6 standardizations as a voting member of IEEE SCC41 committee, voting member of IEEE 1900.6 working group, and the technical editor of the IEEE 1900.6 standard.

2005~2008

Researcher at Wave Engineering Laboratories, Advanced Telecommunication Research International (ATR) Japan, , Japan

Develop beamforming algorithms for multiple-port parasitic array antennas.

Guide a master student working on parasitic array antennas of commercial mobile antennas.

Develop cooperative communication schemes for wireless networks.

Developed beamforming algorithms have been patented in Japan.

The master student successfully published one prestigious journal in Japan.

The invented cooperative communication scheme is published in IEEE Trans. on Vehicular Technology.

The study has become the theme of a master course in Doshisha University Japan.

Intern at ATR Japan

Design adaptive beamforming and direction estimation algorithms for parasitic array antennas of commercial mobile antennas.

The results significantly contribute to the research field of low power consumption smart antennas. Invented algorithms are now utilized in some testbeds of ad hoc network, vehicular-to-vehicular communications.

One paper published at IEEE Trans. on Antennas and Propagation in 2004 has received 29 SCI journal citations.

The study has become basis for Ph.D programs at some universities, e.g. University of Surry.
